5 Ways to Celebrate Healthy Aging Month
Healthy Aging Month is important to us here at MyDirectives. We must all make sure we maintain good mental and physical health as we age so we can have a vivacious, full life! In honor of Healthy Aging Month we want to share five tips for healthy aging, whether you’re in your 20s or 60s:
- Eat well
Clean eating is important at any age, but healthy aging is substantially easier when you start with a base of healthy eating. Integrating lean proteins and greens in your diet is a great way to help you age with grace.
- Find proper vitamins
As we get older, our bodies absorb less and less vitamins from the foods we eat. Try to find vitamins (both in capsules and in foods) that target issues that arise as we age like bone strength, mental health, and healthy skin.
- Exercise
Remaining active is a key ingredient to living a longer life. Exercises such as walking, light jogs, and stretching keep your respiratory system active without exerting yourself or creating the need for a costly gym membership.
- Meditate
Take time to quiet your mind. Studies show that meditation can indeed slow the aging process, at least at the molecular level. Meditation reduces stress and a less stressed body is a healthier body.
- Start planning
Outlining your healthcare wishes is important to staying on track, should a health crisis or accident happen. Be sure you have an up-to-date, digital emergency, critical and advance care plan. By creating a plan, you free yourself and your family from the anxiety of uncertainty.
