Once Upon a National Healthcare Decisions Day
Recently, we commemorated the 7th Annual National Healthcare Decisions Day, a day dedicated to “inspire, educate and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning.”
How did we mark the occasion?
We recommended five ways to celebrate National Healthcare Decisions Day, and the reception was astounding. From sharing your great news across social media to inspiring an influx of people creating for the first time or updating their advance directives, you have helped us stress the importance of talking to loved ones about healthcare wishes. It looks like the media has caught wind of how imperative it is too – Paula Span wrote a powerful article for the New York Times that we are honored to be a part of.
But the movement doesn’t stop here – and that’s why we’re talking to you about NHDD today.
Like most of our favorite holidays, NHDD comes around only once a year. However, unlike other holidays, you don’t have to wait for local shops to stock up on seasonal lights and candles to celebrate NHDD. After all, if there’s one thing the MyDirectives family emphasizes more than anything else, it’s that it is always the right time to talk about your healthcare choices.
Talk to your friends and neighbors today about starting the conversation with their loved ones. Tell them why it’s important to make an advance medical directive too.
