Filmmakers inspire end-of-life conversation

Two filmmakers are tackling an issue that some might find taboo – end-of-life care – and are getting recognized for it.

Terry Kaldhusdal and Michael Bernhagen are using their personal experiences to produce compelling documentaries seeking to inspire conversations about advance care planning.

Their series of films, called Consider the Conversation, advocates for care that is more person-centered, not system-centered. The most recent chapter, “A Documentary on a Taboo Subject,” was honored with Horizon Home Care & Hospice's 2013 Touching Lives Award on February 16th.

MyDirectives applauds and supports all efforts to open the floodgates of thought and communication on this difficult topic. Conversations about the end of our lives shouldn’t be about how we want to die, so much as how we want to live.

Make sure to check out the films, and share them with your friends. Join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter.
