A Thanksgiving Message

We here at the MyDirectives family wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving. The times spent gathered with friends and family are truly special and often far too uncommon.

As Cathy Lynn Grossman writes in a Religion News Service piece in the Washington Post today, “Holiday visits may be the only opportunity for months, if not years, to get a conversation about end-of-life wishes started before it’s too late.”

Grossman says Sandy Silva, vice president of education at the Center for Practical Bioethics, “sees a spiritual value to urging people to think about their … wishes, talk about them and write them down. She calls these actions of autonomy and self-respect.”

We hope you will take the time to enjoy the togetherness. If we have one Thanksgiving wish for you, it’s that you take the opportunity to think about what’s most important to you and share those thoughts with your loved ones. It’s never too early to start talking and begin planning.
